This magical scene was created by Scottish artist, David Gilliver using a technique known as “light painting”.
His series of light paintings are captured in a single long exposure and usually at night to ensure the scene is dark. David then enters the frame and “paints” the light directly into the scene using a series of specially designed tools. Due to the long exposure time, the camera doesn’t capture David at work (provided he is quick enough) and all that remains are his ethereal sculptures set against a beautiful backdrop.
Photographic Print – All photographic prints are digitally printed on archival photographic paper resulting in vivid, pure colour and exceptional detail that is suitable for museum or gallery display. They have a lustre finish (rather than gloss) which helps to minimise reflections making your artwork easier to enjoy from all angles. Prints are not mounted or framed.
Canvas Block – The evolution of canvas prints. A traditional canvas print in stretched over a hollow frame which means the middle of your artwork has no support. With the Canvas Block, the entire print is mounted onto a wooden block. It is made using a unique production process that creates a perfect 90-degree edge to each corner and is exclusively available from our multi award winning supplier. The Canvas Block comes ready to hang and is a great choice that will add timeless style to any wall.
David Gilliver is a fine art photographer, narrating stories, lives and scenes through his charming macro-photography. After graduating from the Glasgow School of Art, Gilliver used his Fine Art Photography degree to capture stunning landscapes around the UK and develop his light painting technique.
In recent years however, David has created a series of well-loved macro-photography images, representing small items on a larger than life scale. Tiny figurines set in carefully curated scenes, and expertly photographed capture a moment in the lives of these little people and have brought huge attention to David's work.
